S-A-N-T-A, Good--S-A-T-A-N, Bad
It's all in the spelling. I'm all for Santa, but that's how satan draws us away…by moving the "N" to the end of santa's name. That evil one has come up with yet another way to use good to be bad. And even with the change, satan allows the happy giving of gifts and everything santa implies, and allows the showing of more love than at other times of the year, so we won't get too carried away with God. satan is for all that, as long as it keeps us from remembering the real meaning of the holiday.
Our pictures of the cross bring Christ to mind, but should show it empty, because that was two thousand years ago, although what He did for us there must be in our minds forever. And pictures of a baby in a manger also puts our minds in the wrong direction. Jesus is an adult, alive and watching over us--no longer a helpless infant.
Let the children watch for a santa they never see, but still believe in, and let us teach them that Jesus Christ is one we never see, but who is real and in our hearts every moment. And as the Bible says, we should teach them every day of their growing years, so they won't be misled. They must believe, even though we don't see Him by reminders like the Ten Commandments on a sign, or other ways the public is allowed to forget Him. And that negative continues through school and college.
But we'll see Him in the flesh one great day. Go to church as a family so every member sees repeatedly, how that gathering represents God Himself, as well as the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, who also is a Man of the Trinity. Learning that those in the Trinity watch over us constantly, not once a year. "Lo, I am with you always."
