There’s a commercial going round that ends with "What’s
in your wallet." It’s about credit or something…I never listen. I only mentioned it, so I could paraphrase
it to, "what’s in your frig." When your child opens the refrigerator, does he see a six-pack? And when
he or she hears the name "God," at your house, is it a curse, or a sign of Christian love.
One thing is certain; around your home, what he
sees is what he’s headed for. Hasn’t someone said that if you do a thing three times, it becomes a habit, and
it will take another three to break it? I must have it wrong, because breaking a bad habit is much harder that that. And
some are so strong that you may never break them. You know the Big Four: Illegal drugs, drinking, smoking and gambling.
And they bring on everything from bad odor to loss of health, family, job and home. You’ve read about movie stars
or hit singers who’ve gone to re-hab, time after time, only to fall back into that thing that began only with a taste.
Like love, you never know when the chemistry will mix, and then it’s too late.
Just as God created us, we create that son or daughter; then it’s
up to us to "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Solomon
said it in Proverbs 22:6, but even his promise falls short if a person waits too long to break out.
Don’t risk it. Give your heart and life to
Christ and let Him be your guide. He’ll never steer you wrong.
