One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Romans 10:15,
"How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! And Isaiah
52:7 says essentially the same thing, and Nahum 1:15 does the same, And if both the Old and the new Testaments say this,
we can accept it without question.
And so may I use what’s called "poet’s license" to say what those scriptures mean to me. I might say,
"How beautiful are the steps of men and women God uses to bring good news about Christ, to all who will listen.
How many persons, full of sin, hear words
that gives them hope, and brings them to Christ. How many missionaries have given up the comforts of home, to carry God’s
message into places where it has never been heard.
To put it in our day-to-day living, we’ve heard of a daughter "just happening to drop by to see Mom," only
to find her unconscious, on the floor and near death from a fall. We aren’t talking about how beautiful are the feet
here, nor is God. He’s using this illustration to show how a person can have a new life with Christ, simply by hearing
about it from a Christian.
And although Nahum, a prophet some 600 years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem…Nahum, who said, "Behold upon
the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! It doesn’t matter whether a lost soul
is in the Rocky Mountains of the United States, our in the Outback of Australia, Jesus Christ is as near as your mind can
think of Him.
you ever thought of that? No matter where you go, He’s there beside you. Remember how our astronauts felt Him inside
their craft in outer space, and remember how touching to hear them read from His Word, our Holy Bible!
Take a moment to thank Him for the beautiful
feet that brought him to you.
