Do you remember the comic strip,Pogo? Pogo Possum was my favorite in the funnys in those days, and this is what I remember
from him: He said,"We have met the enemy, and they are us."
We didn't realize the prophecy that was in that sentence. We remember reading about Prohibition, women getting the vote,
and skirts going above the knee, and a dance called the Black Bottom, but friends, those were just warm-ups. We talk about
how the problems when we were in school consisted of getting caught chewing gum in class, or someone smoking in the restroom,
and now we know that the problems at school are drugs, pistols and drawings of how to shoot the teacher that gave someone
an "F."
Maybe Pogo didn't realize what he was saying, but we do know that there was a time when ministers from our town's churches
took turns coming to our weekly assemblies at school, and talked to us kids about right and wrong. Not pushing their denomination,
they were pushing good kids to stay that way. Then one woman didn't want her kindergarten son to take part in morning prayers
in class, even if held to a short period of silence that served to recognize a God that watches over us, and that one woman
took God out of our schools. Never mind that evolution is taught as fact and Creation is not allowed even a fair hearing.
And our schools have not been the only ones to suffer that silly decision of some judge as to what Separation of Church and
State means. This was written into our Constitution because in the Old Country, governments were taking it upon themselves
to tell the people what their country's official religion was, and the framers of our Constitution only said that this would
not happen in this New World. But a few people have found judges who agree that the Ten Commandments, and our Pledge of Allegiance's
words "under God" are unconstitutional. The people responsible for all this will have an eternity in the next life
to regret what they've done to our nation.
Gay rights? The Bible says God let go of them and let them do all these evil things, so that even their women turned
against God's natural plan for them and indulged in sex sin with each other, and the men, instead of having a normal sex relationship
with women, burned with lust for each other, men doing shameful things with other men and, as a result, getting paid within
their own souls with the penalty they so richly deserved.
Abortion? Speaking of the coming birth of John the Baptist, the Bible says he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost,
even from his mother's womb. That makes a fetus to be human.
Drugs? Drinking? Gambling? The Bible reminds us time after time to take care of our bodies, which are temples of the
Holy Spirit. And there are many other places where the Bible makes it clear that these things are an abomination to God.
Yes, Pogo was right. We are allowing single voices to tear down what millions of us know what is right. We have met
the enemy and they are us. There'll be plenty of time for those promoting these things to repent. Repenting, but too late.
Make sure you're not with them. WWJD. What would Jesus do. Ask Him.
