Let's get back to the basics...I tell you in just about every Conquest article I
write, that Christ is ready at any moment to get you ready for Heaven, but it's been a while since I went through the
scripture verses that can guide you through it.
A good start is to read Romans
3:23, and admit its truth...that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Even though you may have "lived
a good life," that's not enough. Then go to Romans 10:9 and see "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath riased Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." You can put
an exclamation point after that! Then, just as I've told you at other times, Revelation 3:20 says, "Behold, I stand
at the door, and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door (your heart), I will come in to him, and will sup with
him, and he with me."
A thing to remember is that to "believe in your
heart" is more than like saying "I love chocolate cake;" it means a heartfelt belief that Jesus is the Christ.
And in the words of Billy Graham, when he was asked how you know that you're saved, he said "BELIEVE IT." Because
faith is the foundation of Christianity, and love is the cement that holds it together.
that "love" is what will take you through the other good things that Christ puts in your heart...willingness to
give to the Church because that's what keeps it going for your weddings, funerals, having Christian love for others, and
learning what else God has for you.
But don't think that becoming a Christian
will solve all your problems. If that were true, as I've noted at other times, everyone would jump on the bandwagon out
of selfishness, not love. Jehovah God, along with his Son, Jesus Christ, and The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, will help you
solve many problems and avoid even more of them. Trust Them, and you won't regret that most important decision of any
person's lifetime. And you won't regret receiving that Promise of Heaven's reward.
And one more thought...choose a church that encourages you to read your Bible, and you'll be safe from
cults and "social" churches. A minister who wants you to read for yourself what God says, won't be trying to
press you into his personal ideas. Beware of a leader who wants your total devotion to his ideas.
