Your Heaven

I’ve often thought that if I could be blessed with one of God’s gifts, I would ask for the gift of healing. I know…I would no longer have any privacy, because there would be a never-ending line of persons I would want to heal. Finally, these thoughts came to me in the middle of the night, and I got up to write this. Writing is like that; you never know when it will hit you.

At any rate, I started thinking…what was the greatest miracle in the Bible? I thought of healing the deaf…the blind…the leper…and I had almost decided that the parting of the Red Sea must have been the greatest, because it affected so many. A total of 603,550 persons age 20 and over, who left Egypt under Moses’ leadership.

But no…as this ran through my mind, I realized that the greatest miracle surely must be salvation…the changing of the heart of a person through Christ’s forgiveness. And of course this has changed countless millions. The Bible has a way of expressing things that can’t be counted, comparing them to “the sands of the sea, or the stars in the sky.”

Consider even the changing of one person from a drunkard to a minister. I’ve told you in the past of at least two persons whom I have known, personally, who were changed in a moment. I know of one in Portia, Arkansas, who told my Dad about this father and husband who the family dreaded to hear staggering to their door after another night of drinking, who would torment them, but who changed to a loving father in a moment when he gave his heart to Christ. And another right here among us, who many of you would know if I named him, who drank himself to the gutter and was changed in the twinkling of an eye when Christ saved him. He’s still a fine Christian, at this writing.

And so each of us has the gift, in a manner of speaking, if we could lead even one person to Christ. May my writings lead someone to Him.

I leave you to…think about it.
