Did you know that the Bible says not to long for the “good old days?”

Well, actually it was Solomon who said it, but in Ecclesiastes 7:10, the Word says “Say not thou, what is the cause that the former days were better than these? For thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this.”

But I’ll tell you, sometimes today’s world can get you to thinking. Back then we didn’t worry about keeping the batteries good in the smoke alarms…and even a grown-up could open a bottle of catsup or a medicine container. And you didn’t have to spend hours reading all the instructions when you got a telephone. In fact, you couldn’t even buy one…you rented by the month from the telephone company, and if something went wrong with it, they came and fixed it. And all it did was phone. It’s hard not to call them the “good old days.” And did you know anyone back then who was taking 17 kinds of pills every day? And you could fix lots of things on your car with a piece of baling wire. And you could change the oil or the spark plugs yourself. There’s no end to the things you liked about those times.

But times change, and everything changes with it…except human nature. That hasn’t changed since Eve wanted what she had been told she couldn’t have without the consequences, and even in those first days, the tempter was there. And Cain’s jealousy caused the first murder. You’ve noticed how as soon as a child can say a couple of words, you’ll hear “I didn’t do it” from the lips of babes.

Well, Jesus Christ realized that it’s human nature to sin, and He knew that all of us are guilty in one way or another. And so He came in human form to go through all those temptations so He could better understand why we do bad things, even when we don’t want to. And He came with a new way to get forgiveness, when He became our sacrifice. Now if we’ll accept His offer of forgiveness and live for Him, we’re ready for our death or His Second Coming, whichever comes first. Talk to Him about your own soul.
