Among the songs I’ve written is one I call “The Only Real Carol.” I suppose I should recite it to you
before making my point. It goes like this:
Suppose the innkeeper had said, “Yes, there’s room”
Would the lesson of the manger have been lost?
If God had said “Bring Christ’s message to the Kings,”
Would He have had to die upon the cross?
And if the Three Wise Men had decided not to bring
The gifts that they laid at Jesus’ feet
Or if the Heaven’ly Choir had appeared to someone higher
Would The Message of the shepherds be as sweet?
Suppose that our Mary had awoke and not believed,
That the dream had come down from above…
And what if our Joseph had felt he was deceived…\
Would we now have the Savior’s love?
So you see, it takes everyone, to carry out God’s plan…
From dreamer, to shepherd, to king
So won’t you this Christmas, help tell Christ’s love to Man…
That’s the only real carol to sing BT 12 20 75
If Christ hadn‘t come, there’d be no Christmas celebrations, and those who believe in God the Creator, would
still be making thousands of sacrifices of animals on altars as the only way they knew to cover their sins.
We’d be living under the Law that Jehovah gave to Abraham, who passed it along to the Jewish people. And the rest
of us would never had been allowed to become part of God’s Chosen People.
We’d have The Law and the Ten Commandments, but God saw back in those days that not only would Man fail to live up
to the Law, but religious leaders would continually add more interpretations to it, until no one could live up to it. And
the leaders themselves didn’t obey their own rules.
Thank God for sending Jesus Christ to us…to ALL of us…and for becoming the Living Sacrifice that saved us from
the impossible way that was in place before He came. Now, we can joyfully say, “Merry Christmas.”
