Ever wonder why folks generally lived to be only 40 or so back in the “good old days?” Well, consider yourself…if
your teeth had worn out, and they didn’t know how to make dentures yet. And if your eyes had gone bad, and there were
no such things as spectacles or contact lenses, or lasic treatments. And your ears had quit on you, but there were no hearing
aids.
And no tractors to till your land; no balers to bale your hay and no truck to buzz into town for a part you needed.
That list is never ending. But we’re talking about those days before you could get spare parts, even for your body.
And so when it wore out, hope went with it. And that’s a killer.
We acknowledge how useful the doctors, inventors and manufacturers are to our everyday life. But while they’re great
helps to our physical bodies, there is a category above even them, that’s so important that it dims all the wonders
that Man can perform.
I’m talking about the spiritual part of our bodies, that only God, through Christ, can heal. And the most important
part of that isn’t physical healing; it’s the healing of our souls, so that when this brief life is over, we have
a Heaven to look forward to where all sickness, disease, injuries, death and goodbyes are over. Where sorrow and taxes and
divorce and drugs and DWI’s aren’t even in the dictionary.
If you haven’t done the most important thing yet…the only one that really counts…giving your heart and
life to Christ…today would be the best time of all for you to take care of that.
Admit that even in your good times, you weren’t THAT good. And in your bad times, you were horrid. Ask Christ to
forgive and forget all those, and start living for Him. Read your Bible for your guide. Then your hope will shine.
