I can’t wait for August 25th. August 25? What happens then. Well, nothing special. And that’s the very way
December 25th would be remembered…if Jesus Christ had not been born on or about that date.
Some of you listeners may not have even thought of Jesus as the Christmas holidays neared. Or if you did happen to see
it on a commercial ad, you still thought “Santa.”
What a pity that the name that stands for good things…of peace, and happiness, and pleasant times…the name
of “Jesus” seems to be used as a by-word or swear word, instead of with respect as the name of a Savior of the
world.
I wrote a song back in 1975 that speaks of what might have been….
Suppose the innkeeper had said, “Yes, there’s room…
Would the lesson of the manger have been lost?
If God had said “Bring Christ’s message to the kings
Would He have had to die upon the cross?
And if the three wise men had decided not to bring
The gifts that they laid at Jesus’ feet
Or if the Heaven’ly choir had appeared to someone higher,
Would the message of the shepherds be as sweet?
Suppose that our Mary had awoke and not believed
That the dream had come down from above…
And what if our Joseph had felt he was deceived…
Would we now have the Savior’s love?
So you see, it takes everyone, to carry out God’s plan…
From dreamer, to shepherd, to king
So won’t you this Christmas, help tell Christ’s love to Man…
That’s the only real carol…to sing. So I hope you’ll treat the 25th of every month…and every other
day…as a special day to think of Jesus Christ. 37BT 12 20 75
